The Lord has provided many tender mercies in our lives one of which is being able to meet the future Mission President and his wife in Las Vegas just before they went to the MTC for their mission leader training. Matt had emailed President Mayall in May after we received our mission call just to touch base. To our surprise he contacted Matt by email and said they were in Las Vegas visiting friends and would like to get together. As President Mayall was trying to figure out how to meet us, the people they were staying with asked what he was doing. He told them he was trying to get together with a couple that were going to be serving in their mission. When their friends asked who it was, he told them Matt & Darla Herdt. To which they replied, "We know Matt and Darla!" The friends: Butch and Paula Williams. What a wonderful blessing to be invited over to the home of some friends to meet our future Mission President and his wife.
On first meeting Leland and Bernie Mayall we could tell that they were good souls, the salt of the earth. They were down to earth and easy to talk with. We loved hearing their British accents.
