Wind, Whales and Weather in Wales

We are having a Whale of a time here in Wales!

I love looking at the art and knick knacks here. I might have all of my luggage full of them by the time we head back home if I'm not careful.

Loving me some sheep stuffies too! I think I might love them as much as my grandkids do.

Weather

The Winter weather hasn't been too bad so far. We have found that we are actually enjoying the change from the dry/hot heat of Vegas to the cooler/rainy climate. We've had one week of ice on the car and a little bit of snow but not much. Another weekend a big storm passed through with up to 90mph winds. They did cancel church one week due to the snow and weather.

Just a little bit of snow falling.

I ventured in to the realm of making Welsh Cakes. I'm not proficient but they were still very tasty. Traditional made with dried currants.

Waffles in the UK are very different. They are made with a coarse granulated sugar that is crunchy. Too sweet to add syrup to. I'll stick with the US version. Looks can be deceiving. Bacon is greatf!

District Meeting

Each week we get to meet with these wonderful missionaries in the Bridgend District Council.
Elder Lawrence, Elder Mecham, Elder Abreo, Elder Martineau, Sister Dixon and Sister Heo. We have come to love them all. They are wonderful servants of the Lord.

We also had the opportunity to drive Sister Apaza and Sister Collier around to some doctor appointments. We love spending time with all the missionaries.
Senior Retreat January 2025
We spent a few days with the Senior Missionaries and President and Sister Mayall for a couple of days. We had a few meals together. We stayed two nights at the Village Hotel near our flat in Cardiff.

The Big Pit National Coal Museum
Coal was the main industry in Wales for many years. Margaret Thatcher closed down deep mining in 1985 stating it was part of going green. Many felt it was because of the Union workers. At the Big Pit they take you underground 100 meters and give you a tour of the mine. It was a great experience.

Everyone had a great time being with each other and building friendships. Until next time:)

The Souths stayed for church the next day and we had a sing along after church.

Hikes & fun with the missionaries

We were able to go on a few hikes with the missionaries this month. Hiking the Garth was cold but fun hiking with Sister Timothy and Sister...
